Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct – the swim school.

Applies to all swim members and attending adults, parents, carers & children

  1. The parent/guardian is responsible for the behaviour of their child in both changing rooms and all non-swimming areas.

  2. Parents must refrain from becoming involved in the running of the lesson, except at the behest of the teacher. Parents should particularly refrain from beckoning to, speaking to or otherwise trying to draw the attention of swimmers during the lesson, as this distracts the swimmers, and compromises the teacher’s safe control of the class and running of the lesson.

  3. Persistently disruptive swimmers may be excluded, either temporarily or permanently from lessons at the discretion of the teacher, after discussion and consultation with both the teacher and the swimmer’s parents.

  4. We do not tolerate inappropriate behaviour from any member present at the swim school (both on poolside and in the changing rooms). We ask that all members present always respect others.

  5. Treat all staff members, parents, adults and children with respect, dignity and fairness, without discrimination at all times.

  6. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to inform the swimming teacher and head office of any medical condition their child may have.

  7. All present should follow all published swim school policies and procedures at all times.

  8. All swimmers must wear a swim hat during their swimming lesson.

  9. Please remove outdoor shoes before entering the changing rooms and/or poolside.

  10. Please enter the changing rooms and poolside only with clean indoor shoes (flip flops, crocs etc that you have not worn outside), or barefoot.  This is to preserve the hygiene and cleanliness of the poolside and increase the chances of swimmers avoiding unnecessary foot infections (i.e. plantar warts).

  11. All goods and belongings left in the changing rooms, lockers or anywhere on the premises are entirely the responsibility of parents/carers/guardians/responsible adults who are accompanying the swimmers. The Swim School accepts no liability for any items left unattended in lockers, changing rooms or anywhere on the premises.

  12. Please take care of equipment and treat the premises as if they belonged to you.

  13. Please ensure you do not bring any nut-related products to the swim lessons and pool, as some attending swimmers & staff members have nut allergies.

  14. Members must not enter the site whilst under the influence of alcohol, strong medication or drugs.

  15. No smoking is permitted anywhere on the premises.
