Photography and Safeguarding Policy

Bracknell Swimarium, Westbury Swimarium and the swim school.

Photography Policy

1. Casual photography and/or filming of swimmers by parents, members or other spectators is not allowed during any session.
2. The use of cameras or recording devices by parents, members or other spectators at the swim school venues is strictly prohibited, unless approved in advance by the swim school, under the guidelines of this policy.
3. If a parent/member/spectator wishes to photograph or video their swimmer(s), they must receive permission from a senior member of swim school staff, whereby the photography can then be undertaken in a controlled environment.
4. Occasionally, the swim school will take photos or videos to website update purposes and for posting on Facebook and Instagram pages. However, this will only take place with the written and signed permission from the parent/carer concerned.
5. All photos and videos taken by the swim school are made on company devices and all data is stored in line with GDPR.
6. If staff suspect that images/videos are being captured inappropriately by those watching on poolside, the person with the device will be requested to put it away, and failing that, asked to leave.  Persistent use may result in the swim school banning devices entirely from poolside during lessons.
7. Mobile phones or any devices with cameras must not be used in changing rooms at any time.

Changing Policy

1. All full undressing and changing needs to take place in the designated changing areas (female and male changing rooms or accessible changing room).
2. The only changing that should ever happen on poolside is when swimmers arrive ‘swim ready’, already wearing swimwear under their clothing.
3. Adults and children of 8 years and over must use their own gender changing room.
4. Parents, adults and siblings who are 8 years and over, and waiting for swimmers, need to wait outside the changing rooms or building.

Swimwear policy

1. All swim members (adults and children) should wear appropriate clothing according to their gender.
2. Adults in the water with their children should be wearing appropriate swimwear for lessons.
3. All swimmers must wear a hat during their swimming lesson.
